One person injured as train hits van

One person has been injured following a collision between a train and a van at a small crossing about one mile north-east of the main Buttington Crossing.

The incident happened at around 2pm and has closed the line, with a bus replacement service in place until at least 7pm. It is not clear what the extent of the person's injuries are.

Two Air Ambulances joined other emergency services on the scene, which is the same area where another collision took place in 2013 when a train struck a tractor and trailer.

There are no reports of injuries on the train, with one person at the scene saying unofficially that they believed the injured person was not in the van at the time of the collision.

The road was closed from Tuffins roundabout to Trewern for a couple of hours, but emergency services and investigators remain on the scene.
