1940s decision ‘end of July’

Organisers of the popular 1940s weekend, due to be held from September 25-27, say they will make a final decision on holding this year’s event at the end of July.

With less than 100 days to go, the event is holding an online auction to raise funds with a number of items – including wine tasting at home, days out, sporting memorabilia and much more – all available to bid on.

The event has proven to be a popular late summer addition to the town’s social calendar and organisers say they will give themselves every opportunity possible to make it happen.

“We are looking to make a decision late July as that will give us a clearer indication of how the pandemic is playing out, and a better idea of what we can or cannot do,” said the lead organiser Alan Crowe. “Obviously the health of everyone concerned is paramount in our plans.”
