Weather warning tonight

Heavy rain is anticipated to sweep through the area tonight as forecasters issue a yellow warning of thunderstorms for the whole of Wales.

The warning comes into play from 4pm, and will remain until 9am tomorrow, and the Met Office warns that “whilst many places will be dry or see little rain, thunderstorms may cause flooding and disruption in a few places. There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds.”

Welshpool has been basking in glorious weather over the past couple of days, but last week, flash floods hit some parts of the area following heavy showers.

The showers will usher in cooler weather with more rainfall expected to continue over the weekend.
