Flash pitch work still on track

01/07/2020 @ 12:17

Covid-19 won’t delay work on The Flash’s outdoor pitch which has been out of action for most of the past year, the council has confirmed.

Last year’s heavy autumn floods rendered the pitch unsafe and it has stood idle since with landlords Powys County Council liaising with The Flash management, Freedom Leisure, to sort a long term solution.

Concerns that the Covid-19 lockdown had pushed back plans for its reopening have been dispelled by the council.

A spokesperson for Powys County Council said this morning: “All of our capital works have been severely disrupted and delayed due to COVID-19 and contractors have only been returning to work in the last few weeks.

“We are progressing with the replacement of the outdoor pitch at the Flash Leisure Centre as quickly as we can. The timescale was originally to complete by the Autumn 2020, not summer, so hopefully this is still on track.

“We will provide a further update when we have more details.”
