Council pulls out of bidding

Due to a lack of available funds Welshpool Town Council is pulling out of plans to purchase the former Youth Club building from Powys County Council.

The Town Council had made an offer of £100,000 for the building but is now withdrawing the bid after the county council failed to respond.

Minutes from a recent Town Council meeting read:

“It is resolved that that the Town Council currently had not got the funds to purchase the Welshpool Youth Centre. The Council had allocated the money for a certain length of time but had not had a response from Powys CC at the time which was well over a year ago.

“Members stated that they chose not to come back to the Town Council and the time had now passed.”
