Town Council objects to school right-of-way move

Welshpool Town Council has objected to plans to divert a right of way which currently passes through the grounds of a proposed new school.

The right of way passes through the grounds of Ysgol Gymraeg y Trallwng which is due to be built on the site of the former Maesydre School and Powys County Council is applying for permission for a diversion.

In minutes of a recent Town Council meeting it says:

“Members felt that there were no reasonable grounds to alter the footpath and therefore did not agree with the proposals, especially as the proposal goes right across the middle of the recreation round where there are pitches.

“Members felt that the footpath should have been moved when the bypass was built and suggest that the path goes up by the Bowling Club where there was already a path on the tow path.”
