Powys continues Covid recovery

07/07/2020 @ 02:54

Powys continues on its slow road to recovery after it was reported that no deaths have been attributed to Covid-19 over the latest seven-day period released by the Office for National Statistics.

The ONS’s latest seven-day update, the most accurate, shows that 92 Powys residents have died in connection with the virus, the same figure released last week. This includes those that have sadly died in hospitals across the border.

And in another strong show that the people of Powys have been uniting in their fight against the virus, Public Health Wales reported that they had recorded no new cases of Covid-19 over the past 24 hours. Their figures show just five positive cases for the whole county over the past fortnight.

Their records show that just 302 Powys residents have tested positive from 4,545 tests since the beginning of March. This figure does not include the people who have tested positive through the Test and Track system, and yesterday it was revealed that figure was 28 for June alone.

Despite the encouraging news, health chiefs are still advising residents to follow the restrictions and guidance in place as we head towards more relaxing of the rules next week, including the reopening of pubs and hair dressers.
