A talented local female choir have taken their fundraising efforts from performances to an impressive £20,300 following the most recent concert held in Llanfair Caereinion pre-lockdown.
The Castle Belles have been performing at venues across the local area since 2012, and their ‘The Best of the Belles’ performance at Llanfair Leisure Centre, led by Elaine Buckland, raised £2,500 for Ysgol Cedewain, with the Newtown branch of Santander contributing £300 on top for a fantastic £2,800 donation.
The money helped the school put on its Expressive Arts Day at The Hafren and gave pupils the opportunity to perform on the ‘big stage’ through a variety of performances.
A school spokesperson said: “We are very grateful to The Castle Belles for their generosity. The money raised through their performance has allowed our pupils to have the same experience of performing in front of an audience at a proper theatre.”
And the good news is that the ladies have confirmed that fundraising will continue through a virtual festival called The Feel Good Festival, with funds going towards Montgomeryshire Family Crisis Centre and MIND.
