Welshpool Town Council’s annual fireworks display will not go ahead this year.
Councillors met in a virtual meeting and decided that Covid-19 restrictions were likely to mean they could not hold the annual event in a safe manner in November.
The council was also told that the costs of staging the event could rise to as much as £8,000 - though this figure was questioned by members who said the annual cost was normally £4,000.
The future of other annual events, such as the Christmas Market, are to be discussed at an Events Committee meeting in September.
