Guilsfield playgrounds to remain closed

28/07/2020 @ 07:36

While playgrounds and outdoor play areas were permitted to reopen across Wales last week, Guilsfield has decided to keep theirs closed for the time being.

The Welsh Government gave the green light for playgrounds to open for the summer holidays, but issued tough safety measures and left it to owners and operators responsible for them to have discretion over when they consider it safe to open.

Many have, but some have not including Guilsfield with the Community Council providing the following statement last night:

“After careful consideration, the council have decided not to re-open the playparks within the village for the time being. This is due to them requiring a safety inspection and the guidance we have been issued with reference to Covid-19. Please respect this and do not use until the decision has been made to re-open.”

Two of the requirements from the Welsh Government include hand washing facilities and new signage. They also say high usage equipment should be regular cleaned as traces of Covid-19 can remain on some hard surfaces for several days.

The full Government guidance is here.
