More dead sheep dumped

25/09/2020 @ 08:46

Following last month’s grisly discovery of sheep carcasses and bones dumped illegally near Cefn Coch (story here), a reader has contacted us to say more were found near Cyfronydd yesterday.

This latest incident has happened at a Natural Resources Wales site at Figyn, just off the main road to Llanfair Caereinion, with four sheep dumped.

Our reader informed us that it was “just like Cefn Coch” with the person responsible liable for prosecution if found.

“They’ve been dumped this week as I’m up there regularly,” said our reader, who added that he had reported it to Natural Resources Wales.

Last month, Powys County Council told us that “it is a requirement of the Animal By-Products (Enforcement) (Wales) Regulations 2014 that all carcasses are collected, transported and disposed of in an approved manner”.

If anyone has information regarding this particular incident, they should contact Trading Standards on 01874 623420 or email trading.standards@powys.gov.uk.

Further information about the regulation can be found by visiting the business advice section of www.powys.gov.uk/tradingstandards and clicking on Animal Health & Welfare.
