Osfest thieves hit Welshpool tents

Welshpool festival goers were left seething after thieves raided their tents while they were asleep!

The three-day Osfest got into gear on Friday at the Oswestry Showground and hundreds of people from the Welshpool area have moved onto the Festival campsite.

But they awoke on Saturday bleary eyed to find their tents had been targeted by thieves with them inside.

Graeme McGill from Welshpool said several of his friends’ tents were hit overnight, with his brother losing £100 alone, and added that up to 50 tents were affected. Phil Turnbull from Welshpool reported that his car keys were among the items stolen from his tent.

“Security was none existent which is bad for a festival of this size with so many people camping,” said Graeme. “They even broke into the inner part of my brother’s tent while he was sleeping last night. It seems they were just unzipping tents and reaching in to grab whatever they could. It has ruined the weekend for a lot of people.”

Osfest has expanded over three nights this year with top UK acts including The Example, The Feeling, The Boomtown Rats and Tinchy Stryder playing in front of thousands of fans along with local acts including Colour Sunday from Welshpool.

The festival will finish tomorrow night.
