Leighton Road work starts in a fortnight

Users of the B4381 (Welshpool to Leighton road) will be hoping for good weather so that long-awaited work on the troublesome road can start as planned on October 19.

The busy stretch has been impacted by heavy flooding in recent years, but there was encouraging news from County Hall last night that came with a weather warning.

“A provisional date for the works to begin on the B4381 (Welshpool to Leighton road) is week beginning October 19,” said a spokesperson. “This particular area is on a flood plain, so the weather conditions can disrupt plans.”
