Police chopper search for missing person

11/10/2020 @ 09:59

Welshpool Police have been following up this morning what they describe as an “unconfirmed report of a potential missing person”.

Residents report that they were awoken by a National Police Air Service (NPAS) helicopter from around 4.30am, and it has been spotted over the town again this morning after police told us  “this still remains unconfirmed”.

It was revealed last week that 45% of all the tasks undertaken by NPAS aircraft and crew are searches for vulnerable missing people, including those who might be in danger of self harm.

This year alone NPAS helicopters in Wales have undertaken more than 500 of these kind of searches.
