‘Help is a phone call away’

As the Welshpool area prepares to enter a new lockdown being imposed by the Welsh Government from 6pm, Friday, the British Red Cross has reached out to say support is available.

Despite the low local levels of infection, our Cardiff-based Government has decided to place us under the same restrictions as areas with more than ten times our infection rate.

It has been met by a wave of social media frustration from worried business owners and employees, so the British Red Cross has been in touch to ask us to share their free Covid-19 support line.

Kate Griffiths, British Red Cross Director for Wales said: “Today’s announcement will impact people all over Wales in different ways and our Coronavirus telephone support line is there for anyone who needs help or could just benefit from a chat with someone kind and compassionate, to process how they’re feeling.

“It’s not just about telephone support. Our support line volunteers have a wealth of information about local community and voluntary sector groups who can help, as well as the ability to refer urgent cases to Red Cross teams in someone’s local area.”

The Red Cross’ free Covid-19 support line is 0808 1963651 and is described as a “one-stop-shop for emotional support and practical help”.

The line is confidential and open to anyone.
