Members of Welshpool’s two main Masonic Lodges have combined to make a presentation to Ponthafren Association.

The members of Welchpool and Powis Masonic Lodges, with support from the Provincial Grand Lodge of North Wales and The Masonic Charitable Foundation, have contributed £5,000 to the Association’s funds for their work in the Welshpool area.

A spokesperson for Ponthafren, based out of The Armoury, said: “The support for Ponthafren Association is much appreciated, and this donation will be invaluable in helping us to promote positive mental health during this challenging time for all of us.”

Ponthafren, based in three areas of North Powys, offers support to those in need and promotes mental health and well-being for all. It has continued to provide its much-needed services throughout the COVID crisis.

A representative for the Masonic Lodges in the town said: “We are delighted to continue our support for local charities in the Welshpool area.

“Since the Covid-19 situation started, the Masonic Groups that meet in Welshpool have donated over £10,000 to local good causes. We aim to continue to identify local needs and provide essential support in our local community.”

The Masonic Charitable Foundation have already committed £3.6 million to support charitable responses to the pandemic by funding hundreds of local projects and charities across the UK.
