Covid closes Welshpool livestock market

Welshpool Livestock Sales will be closed next week, amidst growing concern that cases of Covid-19 are slowly rising in North Powys.

While the number of positive local cases remain low, the market said that it would be closed from November 9 for one week. Trade will commence again on November 16.

The closure will also impact Rhayader Livestock Sales next week.

Welshpool Livestock Sales has operated throughout the pandemic, even through the peak of cases back in March and April.

The town has been at the centre of the North Powys fight against Covid-19 with three known outbreaks to date. Yesterday, we reported that the 100th positive case was recorded in the town since the pandemic reached here back in March.
