We can all still Remember

06/11/2020 @ 02:10

Covid-19 may be restricting Remembrance Sunday events this year, but residents are still encouraged to pay their respects by standing silent, wherever we may be, at 11am.

Churches, including St Mary’s in Welshpool, will not be permitted to hold their Service of Remembrance tomorrow.

However, The Royal British Legion are permitted to hold an Act of Remembrance but, because of the lockdown regulations, they are strictly limited to 30 people.

The advice is if you haven’t been specifically invited, then not to attend organised events at war memorials on Sunday morning, but to stand silent on your own doorsteps at 11am instead.

Those who wish to visit the War Memorial to pay their respects are asked to do so on Sunday afternoon.

In Welshpool, people are welcome to lay a wreath and can also place crosses in the dedicated Garden of Remembrance on the grass bank opposite the memorial.

A pre-recorded Service of Remembrance is available on the ‘Pool Mission Area’ Facebook page.
