A local caravan site is about to expand its leisure facilities with a new spa and tennis court, after receiving outline planning permission from Powys County Council.

The application was made by Salop Leisure, the owner of Seven Oaks Caravan Park at a site situated to its south by the B4393 road, between the villages of Coedway and Crew Green.

The new building would measure around 25 metres in length and width, with a height to the eves of 2.5 metres and 6.2 metres at its highest point.

This will add to the facilities already at the 35-acre site, which include pitch and putt golf, crown green bowling, fishing lakes, river fishing and state-of-the-art gym facilities.

While this application is new, outline planning permission had already been given in the past to build three “dwellings” at this site. These dwellings will now be moved to another part of the park.

Powys County Council Planning officer Richard Edwards, said: “New tourist development is encouraged because of its contribution to the economy in terms of visitor spending, supporting local business and employment generation.

“The council seeks to ensure that developments are sustainable, and do not have an unacceptably adverse impact and effect upon the character and appearance of an area, the natural and historic environment or existing amenities, assets or designations.

“Officers are satisfied that the proposed development complies with the relevant policies and the decision is one of approval.”
