Welshpool sheltered housing nears completion

16/12/2020 @ 01:45

A housing development in Welshpool is nearing completion, and will provide accommodation for 10 people to live independently and closer to their home community, as well as 30 jobs.

Following a procurement exercise, Castell Care and Support, part of the Wales & West Housing Group, were successful in entering a five-year contract for the provision of support.

Councillor Myfanwy Alexander is Powys County Council (PCC) cabinet member with responsibility for Adult Social Care with the council, and said: “This is a great opportunity to provide accommodation which allows people needing extra support to live with independence and dignity.”

The individuals will have the opportunity to access some of the latest technology along with the availability of support on site, which will support them to achieve independence within their own home.

The project is another partnership between PCC and the Wales & West Housing Group and follows on from the ExtraCare project in Newtown (Llys Glan yr Afon) which opened in 2016.

Luke Reeves, Managing Director of Castell Ventures, said: “We’re extremely excited to be providing care and support to the people moving to Cae Glas.

“We’re passionate about making a difference to people's lives and proud that we are able to play a part in supporting people in their new homes. Not only will Cae Glas have a positive impact on the lives of the people moving in, it will also bring new jobs to the Welshpool area, boosting the local economy.”
