Flash will close Christmas Eve

18/12/2020 @ 09:17

Covid-19 and the Welsh Government have teamed up to devastate plans to start a new gym regime in the New Year, and it is particularly a blow to the Welshpool area.

All leisure centres will have to close indefinitely from Christmas Eve, despite a plea from Powys County Council to make them ‘essential services’ in a bid to support residents’ physical and mental health through the pandemic.

For 18 months, The Flash’s much-used artificial pitch has been out of action due to health and safety concerns, but tremendous work over the past month has seen a new state-of-the-art facility ready to be used in the New Year.

But all that is now on hold with Freedom Leisure reassuring members that their subscriptions will be amended accordingly during the upcoming lockdown.

Gwyn Owen, Freedom Leisure Area Manager, said: “Whilst this further closure is frustrating we look forward to welcoming our customers back once more as soon as we are able to reopen.”

Information for The Flash members:

  • Members who pay by Direct Debit for fitness membership or swimming lessons will not have their direct debits collected in January 2021.
  • Members who have paid in full will have their Annual membership extended for a further month.
  • Members will be contacted when a re-opening date is known to confirm the date of the next direct debit collection.
