Bin problems continue

There are further disruptions to the weekly bin collections today following a day of problems yesterday that resulted in many households being missed.

Powys County Council said that problems with its ageing fleet of vehicles is to blame and promised that more recycling will be taken next week to make up.  

“We are currently experiencing a number of issues with our collection vehicles at our Welshpool depot, which is causing disruption to some of the recycling rounds in and around the area this week,” said a spokesperson.

“Extra recycling will be taken next week to make up for the missed collection. If essential, excess recycling can be taken to the Household Waste Recycling Centre, or your community recycling site.

“We are currently in the process of procuring new vehicles to replace our aged fleet, which will of course improve reliability and reduce disruption to the service.

“We apologies for the inconvenience and thank residents for their understanding.”
