Powys is steaming ahead with its vaccination programme, confirming this morning that more than 33,000 people have now received their first dose.
Nearly 90% of those aged 75 and over have been vaccinated already, with a reserve list now open for those aged 65+ and available to attend a vaccination centre at short notice.
Over 9,500 doses were administered last week and one member of the Powys team has already vaccinating 1,000 people alone.
It comes as Welshpool gets to grip with a new wave of positive cases, prompting the arrival of a mobile testing unit in the town from today.
“Our vaccination clinics across the county this week will focus on the remaining appointments for people in these priority groups, as well as inviting people aged 65-69 (Priority Group 5) from our reserve list to help ensure that no doses are wasted,” said Carol Shillabeer, Chief Executive, Powys Teaching Health Board.
“Alongside this, we are also calling out to frontline health and care workers providing intimate care for people in Powys in the UK Priority Groups who have not yet had their invitation.”
