Police discover illegal bike track in woods

Local police officers have discovered an illegal dirt bike track running through Dolforwyn Woods, which is just off the Newtown road near Abermule.

A criminal damage investigation has opened after officers discovered that trees have been damaged and jumps put in place at the nature reserve.

“Over the last few months trees have been damaged and soil removed to make bike tracks and jumps,” said a police spokesperson.

“Police would like to remind the public that this area is a nature reserve and home to many species of birds and animals.

“Cycling on the main paths is welcomed at the reserve however please refrain from causing damage to the habitat in the area by making new trails.”
