Town Council reviewing sports clubs Maesydre leases

Welshpool Town Council is reviewing the deeds and leases of sports clubs using the Maesydre Recreation Ground.

The council’s services and property committee is recommending that meetings be held with each club once the study is complete.

The committee has also voiced concerns about the temporary buildings on the recreation ground and has voted to discuss the issues with the tenants.

Clubs using the Maesydre Recreation Ground include Welshpool Town FC, Waterloo Rovers FC, Welshpool Juniors FC, Welshpool Rugby Club, Welshpool Cricket Club and Welshpool Town Bowling Club.

It was also reported that the Town Council had received “several complaints” about the recreation ground car park being closed.

The council has fenced off the car park and is looking at quotes to erect payment parking machines, a decision which has seen many take to social media to voice complaints.
