Phone Box re-brand to “spruce up Llanfair”

Llanfair Caereinion is to undergo a “sprucing up” exercise starting with the refurbishment of the town centre red phone box.

The town council’s most recent minutes report that “it has been noted that many of the Councillors expressed concern that Llanfair was looking tired and would like to see it spruced up”.

The council wants to engage with residents to see what can be done and has started by approving the refurbishment of the red phone box opposite the Goat Hotel to provide a Tourist Information Point in line with the ‘sprucing up of Town’.

“This would involve re-painting the phone box and using it as a tourist information point with

leaflets,” said a spokesperson. “There would also be room for some shelves to accommodate the book exchange currently in the phone box.”

Residents can now have their say as to whether the project proceeds, and whether the phone box should be painted red, blue or green.

All votes must be received no later than May 9.
