Earning threshold raised for energy saving grant

25/05/2021 @ 10:18

Households bringing in less than £34,500 a year could now qualify for an energy saving grant scheme being administered by Powys County Council.

ECO3 has been launched after tweaks softening its eligibility were made after claims of low take-up and fraud with its previous two schemes.

The nationwide energy saving grant scheme is funded by the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) and designed to assist in the provision of insulation and energy saving heating improvements to households living in fuel poverty across the county.

The new criteria means that you do not have to be in receipt of benefits to quality and households earning up to £34,500 may be eligible.

Cllr Iain McIntosh, Cabinet Member for Cabinet Member for Housing, Planning and Economic Regeneration, said: “Working on behalf of the council, Warm Wales will organise the installation of energy efficiency measures in properties that are currently inefficient and costing the resident a lot to heat, which they might not be able to afford.

“It is important that our more vulnerable residents have comfortable homes that are cheaper to heat, especially during the colder months. The energy saving measures will also have a positive impact on the environment long-term.”

Residents interested in applying or looking for more information should contact Warm Wales on 01656 747 622, email information@warmwales.org.uk or visit www.warmwales.org.uk.
