A Welshpool youngster is set for big things in the dance world after winning a sought-after title at the Eisteddfod T event held on S4C at the weekend.

Betsy Mills Hogg, 10, is a pupil at Welshpool Church in Wales School and has shown a talent for dancing having started four years ago.

Last year she won the first stage of the Urdd Eisteddfod for dancing but couldn’t go further in the competition after the pandemic brought the world to a halt.

Not to be outdone, with this year's Eisteddfod T going online, Betsy, who attends the Shelley Ann Choreography Dance School, entered a performance into the Contemporary Dance section, and was successful in reaching the final three.

Following a live S4C interview from her living room, the excellent news that she had won was delivered, much to the delight of her mum, Lynsey Mills.

“It was such an exciting experience and we are so proud of her,” said Lynsey. “The Judge, Jalissa Andrews (actress and professional dancer), said that she was looking at the technique and performance and that Betsy's was amazing.”

Lynsey said that Betsy is going to be a part of “something big in the dance world” in August but the family is unable to announce details just yet!
