Have you been ‘wowed’ by police?

Dyfed Powys Police has joined an awards programme to recognise the contribution of their staff.

The Wow Awards are the UK's only national award for customer service based purely on customer nominations. The programme is intended to encourage organisations to provide an improved customer service by acknowledging when people do things right.

Assistant Chief Constable Nick Ingram said: “We have a positive culture of doing a good job, but occasionally we do let ourselves down and we all know that a bad experience travels a lot further than a good experience. We want to do what we can to maximise the service experience of our citizens.

“The Wow Awards are the next step forward for the Force from the Contact Cards that were piloted in Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire. The Contact Cards demonstrated that people who we come into contact with are either satisfied, or very satisfied with the level of service they have received. Now we want to close the loop and recognise the good service provided by our staff with an award.”

Chief Superintendent Gwyn Thomas added, “It is easy enough to complain, we want to make it easy to give praise and say thank you where it is due. Any member of Dyfed Powys Police can be nominated for a Wow Award, either by a member of the public or a colleague at work, through the link on www.dyfed-powys.police.uk.

“We have asked our officers to hand out cards to people they help during their working day. We know that people appreciate the service we provide. Now we ask for people to tell us about it so we can recognise it formally.”
