Welshpool’s latest night spot, the 1898 club, has announced that it will reopen following health a safety issues that saw it close for the past two weekends.

The former Conservative Club has been transformed into a modern venue that offers a variety of options for revellers, but it decided to close after issues were identified within the building.

But it’s now full steam ahead, the venue has confirmed, with a busy weekend of live music planned.

“We are so happy to report that we have resolved our health and safety issues and are now ready to open,” the venue announced in a statement.

“We would like to thank you all for your patience and support while we continue to protect out incredible building.”

The statement signed off by saying “we are back with a bang” as this Saturday a sell-out festival called ‘Rajfezt’ will be held in memory of popular Welshpool musician, ‘Raj’ Gannon, who sadly died last year.

A number of local bands and artists will perform throughout the day and evening with funds being raised for the Ponthafren Association.
