Canal improvements commence

Work has started on improving the towpath for pedestrians to walk on next to the Montgomeryshire Canal.
The well-used section of path from Mill Lane bridge to Gallowstree Bridge is being upgraded by British Waterways under its plans to improve the canal towpath from Newtown to Welshpool.
The work started on Monday and is expected to take four weeks to complete.
One user told us: “This is a very well used section but it can get muddy at times so the improvement will be very welcome.”
