Local care workers still waiting for Covid bonus

23/09/2021 @ 11:28

MyWelshpool has been told by a number of local care workers that they are still awaiting their second Covid ‘bonus’ promised by the Welsh Government.

Several employees of a couple of Welshpool settings have contacted us to ask for assistance in securing their bonuses of £500, awarded by First Minister Mark Drakeford in recognition of the extraordinary work they have done throughout the crisis.

But while many up and down the country have received their money, it is taking its time to reach the bank accounts of some local employees.

Powys County Council is responsible for administering the payments and told us this morning: “(The) Welsh Government has asked the council to administer the bonus payments on its behalf and to date some providers have received their payments, but any who have not will receive their money from the council today (September 23). This money should then be cleared into their accounts by next Wednesday.”
