“Heartbroken” family tells of Lewis devastation

The family of Lewis Clarke, whose death sparked a murder investigation over the weekend, has spoken of its “devastating loss” for the first time.

Lewis, from Newtown, died on Saturday after police were called to a Llanidloes flat and they still have a 20 year-old in custody being questioned.

Following a massive outpouring of grief by the area’s youngsters, the 19 year-old’s parents have described their son as a well loved boy.

Gale Morris, Lewis’ mother, said: “We are devastated by the loss of Lewis. He was a well loved boy with a passion for music and acting. He was looking forward to joining the Navy in November. His determination in life was amazing.”

His father, Sean Clarke, said: “We are absolutely heartbroken and devastated at the loss of our Lewis.  We are obviously very shocked and sickened, and struggling to come to terms with his death. He was much loved by many people, and we were all very proud of him.”

Police have also released an extract from Lewis’s own Facebook page which showed the teenager would liked to have become an actor.

It reads: “Nothing makes me happier than listening to a song with real meaning. I also discovered I have a passion for acting. The school I was in had an acting agency. I had several minor roles but nothing major. I would love to pursue a career in the business but as you all know it’s far from easy.”

Police yesterday obtained a further 36 hours to question the 20 year-old.
