Guilsfield is set for a rousing weekend of music which will start as early as 8am Saturday and culminate with a Songs of Praise on Sunday evening.
The 2011 Music Weekend, directed by Joan Upton-Holder and taking place at the Church, will begin with a sponsored organ play from 8am-1pm on Saturday when the Church’s tower and bell ringing level will be open to the public from 10.30am-12noon.
The afternoon will see rehearsals held for the Saturday evening sing-along to excerpts from Messiah which will take place from 7.30pm. Gerry Howe will conduct and everyone is welcome to take part or listen.
On Sunday, there will be an all-Age Worship with Choir and Youth Orchestra from 10.30am and in the afternoon, there will be a concert including music for soprano, choir, clarinet, harp, saxophone, piano, flute and organ. It will take place from 2.30pm-4.30 pm.
The rousing finale will come in the form of Songs of Praise at 6.00pm featuring the Newtown Silver Band. There will be no cost to attend but donations will be given towards Guilsfield Church.
