Church clock repairs would cost £6,000

Repairing the clock at St Mary’s Church in Llanfair Caereinion will cost a whopping £6,000, it has been revealed.

The extent of the job was revealed by Llanfair Caereinion Town Clerk, Robert Robinson, who said the Town Council has agreed to contribute £1,500 to help out.

“The Church has confirmed that they do not have the finance to fund the replacement of the clock,” said Mr Robinson.

While the preference is to repair the original clock, the cheaper option is to have it completely replaced at a cost of £3,500.

Residents will now be asked whether they want a working clock in the town and, if so, how the remaining funds can be sourced.
