Ardwyn School head teacher ‘dismissed’

13/07/2011 @ 03:44

Parents picking up their children from Ardwyn School this afternoon have been informed that an investigation into popular head teacher Mrs Eirios Hall has concluded with a recommendation for her to be dismissed.

A letter was sent home with pupils announcing the decision and Powys County Council has confirmed the investigation had concluded. However she has the right to appeal and will remain in her position on suspension should she choose to do so.

Cabinet Member for Learning and Leisure, Councillor Stephen Hayes, said: “I can confirm that the Disciplinary Committee of the Governing Body at Ardwyn Nursery and Infants School, Welshpool, has recommended that Mrs Eirios Hall should be dismissed from her post as head teacher at the school.  Mrs Hall has a right of appeal and should she exercise her right of appeal, she will remain in post but on suspension until after her appeal.

“Parents have been informed of the decision. As an interim measure Mrs Yvonne Naylor, with the agreement of Governors of Oldford School, will continue to be the acting Head-teacher of Ardwyn School for the autumn term.

“No further comment can be given until the conclusion of all proceedings.”

Last week, angry parents launched a Facebook Group demanding answers and a conclusion into the investigation after saying they were being kept in the dark. Several have contacted mywelshpool after the letter they received also bizarrely asked them not to speak to the press on the issue.

Meanwhile, parents at Maesydre Primary School have today come out fighting after an ‘unsatisfactory’ inspectors’ report was published yesterday. One told us: “The inspectors must have come on a bad day!”
