Dream farmhouse in UK’s top 50

20/07/2011 @ 01:24

A Mid Wales farmhouse has been named by The Independent newspaper in the top 50 B&Bs in the UK.

Norman and Fiona Potts (right), who run Gwaenynog at Dolanog are delighted with the extra publicity provided by The Independent, who described the B&B as a “peaceful country break with a plethora of wildlife”.

Norman and Fiona spent 18 months clocking up thousands of miles hunting for their dream farmhouse in Mid Wales before dropping on Gwaenynog quite by chance in the summer of 2009.

They had made an appointment to view a neighbouring farmhouse but fate led them to Gwaenynog, which was up for sale with the same estate agent.

“It was something we had talked about doing in the future, but because I was made redundant from my job in London after 20 years we decided we should think about doing it sooner,” said Fiona, 49.

Fiona is a member of Mid Wales Tourism (MWT), an independent organisation representing around 550 tourism and hospitality businesses in Powys, Ceredigion and Meirionnydd. MWT provides a range of services to help members develop and market their businesses, whilst also giving them access to exclusive membership discounts.
