The moment armed police joined Welshpool manhunt

This is the moment that an armed response team joined a manhunt following a serious incident at The Raven that resulted in a man being airlifted to hospital yesterday.

There was a huge police presence late afternoon as details emerged of a reported stabbing on the premises, with a person, believed to be a man, receiving a serious injury.

Our eye witness took this image shortly afterwards, at about 5.15pm, when specialist armed officers arrived in the town to assist local officers as they carried out a search of the town centre.

“Unarmed police officers were searching the area around the town hall, when they were joined a short time later by an unmarked armed response vehicle,” the eye witness told us.

“The picture was taken as they prepared their firearms, including baton launcher and a long firearm. 

“Minutes later they were at the entrance to Britannia Passage next to the laundrette.”

Dyfed Powys Police have been asked for details about what happened, but they have not responded to date.
