Carnival call to ‘let your hair down!”

Next weekend’s Llanfair Caereinion Carnival looks set to be a blaze of colour and fun after the theme of the floats and fancy dress was confirmed as Pantomime, Theatre and the Musicals.

The highlight of the July 9 event will be “Rapunzel; the Pantomime!” which is presented by The Immersion Theatre, as the carnival returns following a two-year Covid break.

The Carnival Queen and her retinue will arrive on the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway to join the procession of floats at the station.

The procession will wind through the town and, at the Institute, the floats will be joined from 11.45am by the fancy dress walkers with an invitation for everyone to join in the fun. Prizes will be on offer. The parade will end on Mount Field, which will open at 1.30pm.

All the usual fun of the fair will be there with a fairground, stalls, fun for the kids, hot and cold food and a bar for the adults.

The Carnival Committee is being supported by Llanfair Caereinon Town Council in “making sure such brilliant entertainment is at the heart of the carnival”.

“We are really looking forward to this year’s Carnival,” said Nikki Peate, the Chair of the Carnival Committee. “We have all missed the Carnival over the last two years and we could all do with a great community get together, a parade through the streets, brilliant entertainment for all on the field and lots of fun for the kids and perhaps the occasional beer for the adults.”

There are more details on the Carnival’s Facebook page.
