‘Thank-you Welshpool’

02/08/2011 @ 10:38

Welshpool fire fighters have handed over a whopping £5,513.10 to Severn Hospice following a series of annual events which bring the town together in their hundreds.

Events like the ‘Spinathon’ at The Fash and the Midnight Walk have become popular fixtures on the Welshpool social calendar and the money raised is collated by the fire station and distributed to their nominated charity.

This year, Severn Hospice is the benefactor, following on from Macmillans last year while Marie Curie will benefit over the next 12 months.

“The lads would like to thank the community of Welshpool and surrounding areas for taking part in the events and helping us to raise a large sum of money for a very good cause,” said station spokesperson Russel Pugh.
