Argos, Halfords, Peacocks set for town?

An insider at the Tesco development has revealed to mywelshpool that retail giants Argos, Halfords and Peacocks are expected to join them on the site.

The multi-million pound development is rapidly taking shape on the Old Smithfield site, with the first phase set to include four big high street names as well as the supermarket chain.

Those names have been a closely guarded secret as negotiations continued but an announcement is expected soon.

“It is pretty safe to say that Argos, Halfords and Peacocks will be three of them,” said our Tesco insider. “They are very big names and would be a big boost for Welshpool.”

Last week, mywelshpool revealed that a glitch over the proposed one-way road system has delayed the opening of Phase One to mid-February. Phase Two of the project is expected to include more stores and possibly a budget travel hotel.
