Early start for Berriew Show

25/08/2010 @ 02:22

Saturday’s Berriew Show will start earlier at 12.30pm this year to accommodate a busier-than-normal schedule.

The 62nd running of the annual show will provide a fun-filled afternoon where beauty mixes with brawn; Magic meets Rodeo and a dog and duck herding team will demonstrate something a little quackers.

Here, Show Secretary Elaine Williams talks us through the highlights:

The Show will be opened officially at the earlier time of 12.30pm by President, Mr Frank Dixon, followed by the arrival of this year’s ‘Miss Berriew Show’ Megan Wilde and her attendants.

The main ring attractions are the Wye Valley Axeteam and the Quack Pack – an hilarious dog and duck herding demonstration team – who will feature throughout the afternoon’s programme.

The Mobile Climbing Wall is back by popular demand along with the Punch & Judy and Magic Show, Giant Slide, Rodeo Bull, Kiddies Quad Bikes, Paint Balling, Trampolines, the Fun Fair featuring mini-waltzers and swing boats, Face Painting, a Fancy Dress Competition and Children’s Sports and Races; all ensuring a fun packed afternoon for the whole family.

In addition, Berriew YFC will hold an ‘It’s a Knockout’ with the Army Assault Course.

The Montgomeryshire Vintage Machinery Club will appear, along with the Tanantside Pony Club who will incorporate a demonstration to music to celebrate their 75th Anniversary. Terrier Racing ends the day alongside the presentation of Cups and Trophies.

The Show will also feature Classes for Arts and Crafts, Cookery, Horticulture, Photography and a youth section along with Tradestands and a Rural Craft Marquee.
A licensed bar and refreshments will be available throughout the day.”
