Fundraising effort shows a lot of front!

Motorists chugging through Welshpool on Saturday could be forgiven for doing double takes as the town’s latest giant fund raiser showed plenty of ‘support’... literally!

The Fire Station’s ‘bra buster’ appeal in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care proved a huge success, as the town once again backed its fire fighters by donating an incredible 650 bras.

A total of £1,570 was raised as donations were taken for the unwanted bras which will now be handed over to another charity – Breast Talk - to raise even more money.

“It was such a laugh,” said Kaye Derwas from Marie Curie Cancer Care (Montgomeryshire). “We can’t thank the fire fighters enough for their support and of course the people of Welshpool for getting into the spirit of the day.”

The bras were tied together and stretched up Severn Street from the Fire Station and all the way to the Green Dragon at the top of town.

It proved an incredible spectacle and the fund raising efforts will continue with the Fire Fighters annual Midnight Walk on October 15 and the Spinathon, held at The Flash.
