Texel buyers filled the large ring at the WLS auction mart at Welshpool, but had to wait until the second to last consignment went through the ring before witnessing the top two prices received by the CAEREINION flock of Mr C E Pryce, no stranger to the shearling ram limelight. He first sold the overall Reserve Champion, sired by Cambwell Laird, LTC05507, for 4200gns, going to Mr Owen, Sandlands, Wales. His Dam was by the noted Summerwood Grand Union, PHS00001.
Mr Pryce’s only other entry matched this, sired by his own 12,000gns Caereinion Number One, PEC07216, with the dam again by Summerwood Grand Union, PHS00001.
The demand for good strong shearlings being well sought after these were followed by another six, four figure prices. LOOSEBEARE sold a Kelso Oxygen son, MBZ08019, at 1500gns to Mr Lewis Grouddhall. Angela Nairey, MEINSPRIDE, had two lots at 1300 and 1200gns, firstly for a Glenside King son, FPG81002, and secondly for one by Glenside Drum Major, FPG97065.

His dams sire was the 28,000gns Castlecairn Nile God, RNA07149, who like Panther was a former Great Yorkshire show Champion.
PROCTERS farm had a very successful sale with a trio of top prices at 2100, 1900 and 1200gns, all sired by the powerful 50,000gns Haddo Ringleader,KWJ1000063, with their dams all having been purchased from Annan, their 2100 call was also the pre sale champion chosen by Judge David Houghton, TOPHILL flock, and sold to Mr Davies, Llwyncad.
One of the largest rams seen for some time came next when Phillip Evans, sold FOSTYLL STAR, EPF1100112, at 2400gns to Mr Roy Hughes, TREFONNEN, this Mellorvale Reyna son, BCM1000030, out of a dam by Knock Olympus, HAK08900.

Making the journey south worthwhile was a 1500gn sale for Society Chairman, Gordon Gray, ETTRICK, this ET brother to the 10,500gn Rainbow Warrior, GGH1000041. This price was matched by LLANGWM when they sold a son of the 2010 Ruthin sale champion, Hen Gapel Royal Gold, OJH1000008, out of a dam by Cowal Monarch of the Glen, CKC06213.
