The Welsh Border Car Club’s annual Breidden Road Rally next month will raise funds for the Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
The popular event, to be based at Welshpool Livestock Sales, will be held on October 1st and 2nd and is expected to attract some of the best club rally drivers from across the country to tackle the 125 miles of twisty country lanes.
“This year’s chosen worthy cause, the Birmingham Children’s Hospital, is very near to our hearts,” said Neil Spiers, one of the main organisers of the event. “My own son and children of two other members of the car club are indebted to the hospital care which was vital for their survival at the time and we are honoured to raise money to support the hospital whilst putting on a cracking event for rally enthusiasts.”
Ralph Robson of T A Gittins & Company, Chartered Accountants, the main sponsor of the event, said: “We are proud to support the Breidden Road Rally once again this year. Competitors should be guaranteed a great night’s sport on the lanes around Welshpool and the surrounding area. The organisers will put on a challenging, enjoyable route and in aid of a worthy cause.”
The event starts and finishes at the Livestock Market on the edge of town and is a round of the National Road Rally Championships.
Marshals are needed in large quantities this year, so If you are able to support the event in any way please contact Gill Wood on 07768 596495.
