One-way incident book filling up

08/09/2011 @ 04:24

Welshpool’s one-way system had nine near misses within a seven-day period, according to emails sent in to town councillor Dr John Morgan’s new ‘log book’.

Cllr Dr Morgan decided to open the log book after saying he was nearly run over last week and has urged residents and motorists to email him with incidents which he will share at a town council meeting next week.

It comes ahead of a full review of the road system by Powys County Council later this month and criticism from across the board with MP Glyn Davies once labelling it as ‘The Road to Hell’.

Cllr Dr Morgan said this morning: “So far I have in total nine incidents reported to me which I suspect is the tip of the ice berg. The incidents were reported over the course of seven days.”

The information will be shared at the town council’s planning meeting on Wednesday, September 14 at 6pm, when plans for the proposed shopping development for the Spar Car Park will also be on display and discussed. The meeting will be held at the town hall’s council chambers and is open to the public to attend.

If you would like to report any incidents you have seen on the one-way system, contact Cllr Dr Morgan on john@morgan.md
