Green light for super pub

Welshpool will welcome its first national pub brand after Powys County Council finally saw eye-to-eye with developers for a Marston’s pub opposite Tesco.
Permission was granted after nearly nine months of wrangling, giving the green light for the pub to be built on the derelict land opposite the Old Smithfield where Tesco is located.
The pub will take over the right hand side of the old car park, with the left hand half set aside for a future development which is believed to be a budget hotel.
The new pub is expected to create at least 27 jobs.
