Night road closure and a 41-mile detour

Motorists heading to Shrewsbury on any of five nights next week face a 41-mile diversion due to a planned road closure.

The National Highways Team will be carrying out 'essential resurfacing work' on the A458 between the England/Wales border and Churncote Roundabout, towards Shrewsbury.

The road will be closed both ways from 9pm and 6am, on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of next week.

During the closures, a fully signed official diversion route will be installed via the A458, A483 and the A5, taking motorists on a 41-mile route via Oswestry.

Officials say that during this time, access to frontages will be maintained as well as access for emergency vehicles.
