The Welshpool Music Festival looks set to rise from the ashes with a veteran rock covers band set to headline.

A string of mysterious social media prompts has appeared from the former festival over the past few days hinting that we could see its return.

And last night, it was revealed that BC/DC UK, one of the best AC/DC tribute acts who perform a range of other rock music too, will be the main attraction.

In the post that revealed all, it was announced: “It’s been so frantic behind the scenes getting this event together, very exciting too!

“Sunday, May 26, the Cricket (Rugby) Club will be hosting a WMF event from noon till 11pm.

“There will be two stages packed all day with live acoustic and bands which we are sure you are going to love.

“Very excited and so pleased to announce that our headlining act will be none other than those awesome rockers... BC/DC!”

The post went on to confirm that local acts will be featuring on the bill with more announcements expected soon.”

The former WMF was held at venues across the town, attracting hundreds of music fans into the town, but was last held in 2018.

Who are BC/DC UK?

Formed back in 2010, BC/DC UK are recognised as one of the great tributes to the legendary Australian rock band, AC/DC.

The band has appeared at Farmer Phil’s Festival and the Harley Davidson Festival, and will bring its high energy, high volume rock groove to Welshpool.

Half of the set is songs by rock AC/DC, but plenty of other rock bands are featured including Led Zeppelin, Metallica, The Cult and many more.
