Remembrance Festival details released

Welshpool is planning a number of events to mark the Remembrance weekend next month.
 
The full details are as follows.
 
Field of Remembrance – Monday November 7
 
A short service will take place in St Mary’s Church at 6.30pm followed by the laying of crosses at the War Memorial.
 
Two-minute silence outside town hall – Friday, November 11
 
The two-minute silence will be observed outside the Town Hall at 11am on. Members of the Royal British Legion, veterans, schools and Council staff will be there. Anyone else wishing to to pay their respects is welcome. Baptist minister Keith Fantham will be present to offer prayers.
 
Garden of Remembrance, Howells Drive – Friday, November 11 2011
 
At 2pm, poppy crosses will be laid as a sign of respect. Organised by the Royal British Legion, there will be representatives from local schools, together with the Mayor, Councillors, Town Clerk and anyone wishing to attend is also welcome.
 
Remembrance Parade – Sunday, November 13 2011
 
Welshpool Town Council extends an invitation to all who would like to be a part of the Remembrance Parade on Sunday November 13. This year also marks the 90th Anniversary of the Royal British Legion.
 
The parade will depart from Park Lane, off High Street, at 10.30am in order to be at St Mary’s, for 11am. 
 
Following the church service, there will be the laying of wreaths at the memorial. The parade will then make its way back to the Town Hall where all are welcome to the Assembly Room for light refreshments.
